Speech of Mr. Virendar Mohan Trehan, Chairman, Delhi Chapter, ISCA on 28th October, 2010 on a Lecture on “Science for Musical Excellence on Mridangam”

It gives me a great pleasure in welcoming Hon’bleUnion Minister for Home, Shri P. Chidambaram, Dr. Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman, Dr.T Ramasami, fellow members of ISCA and other distinguished guests.

We at ISCA are extremely grateful to Shri Chidambaram for having sparedhis valuable time for this function.

We extendour warm welcome to you, sir.

Ladies and Gentlemen, as you all know, ISCA was formed in 1913 – 14 for the propagation of Pure Sciences in India. It was, in 1976 that ISCA became a platform where members from different disciplines and different walks of life participated and contributed on variousissues relating to science and technology.

The Delhi Chapter of ISCA has been very active in organising lectures and talks by experts from all fields of sciences. The last being the Raj Kristo Dutt Memorial Award Lecture by Prof. V.S.Chauhan, Director International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology on 18th October 2010.

It is your encouragement which is taking us forward in our effort to give youglimpses of knowledge from different fields of sciences and we hope to receive your continued support and participation on our scientific endeavours in thefuture.
